Estates Mechanical and Electrical (M and E) Officer

Job Description

We are currently working with an NHS organisation who are seeking to appoint an Estates M&E Officer to ensure the reliability of building maintenance, engineering infrastructure, systems and equipment.

This role will be hybrid with on site and remote working expectation. The role will start ASAP for initially 3 months and will be at Band 6.

Role Summary:

As maintenance specialist, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of building maintenance, engineering infrastructure, systems and equipment. This will include the guidance and support to Estates operatives to ensure Statutory and Mandatory compliance.

The postholder will also be responsible for managing the upkeep of the Estates Grounds and Gardens

There will be an ongoing clear focus upon balancing the planned maintenance activities with the responsive repairs service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Key areas of responsibility include Lifting Equipment Regulations, Legionella and Water Systems, Low Voltage Electrical Safety, and Medical Gases, Critical Ventilation, assuming the responsibilities of the authorised person’s roles;

  • Liaise with the Trust Governance and Compliance departments to ensure that Health & Safety requirements are fully understood and adhered to;

  • Coordinate maintenance works, incorporating works by in-house and contract labour;

  • Deal with day-to-day repairs, breakdowns and emergencies including maintaining to a high standard the repair requisition system and client feedback;

  • Provide appropriate technical assistance, training, instruction and guidance to ensure engineering and gardening staff understand and are able to use tools, equipment and information systems provided.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or Construction. Or HNC/HND and equivalent level experience;

  • Experience in managing fault diagnosis, maintenance and repair of engineering plant and equipment;

  • Highly skilled in use of hand and powered tools and Building and Engineering practices.

Must possess current full UK Driving Licence.
