Patient Flow Service Improvement Programme Manager

​We are working with an NHS organisation who are seeking to appoint a Patient Flow Service Improvement Programme Manager.

This role will be hybrid with some on site and some remote working expectation. The role will start ASAP and will be at Band 8a.

The role will be based at an organisation in the South East with a specific focus on the transformation of patient flow through acute and community services, reviewing current process, opportunities for improvements and integration of services.

Role summary:

  • The Patient Flow Service Improvement Programme Manager is responsible for the delivery of the agreed programme and projects, ensuring that outputs are high quality, safe and effective in line with the Trust quality and improvement programmes;

  • Success in the role depends on promoting excellent teamwork with key stakeholders (clinical and non-clinical), wider Service Improvement & Transformation team and colleagues both within the organisation and its partners;

  • The post holder will be responsible for supervising project management and support staff in the Service Improvement & Transformation team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading on the development and delivery of Heath and Care Patient Flow Programme and where required, other priority programmes as agreed with the Head of Health and Care Integration and Transformation.

  • Developing a high level knowledge and awareness of national policy and best practice in relation to designated programme areas with a particular focus on Hospital discharge guidance which will inform continuous quality and cost improvement plans

  • Leading the delivery of designated programmes including developing robust programme/project plans, allocating tasks as appropriate, identifying risks, issues and dependencies, considering best practice and current options and ultimately making decisions in the best interest of the programme/project.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Masters level qualification in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience;

  • Formal Programme and/or Project management training;

  • Experience of working within hospital flow programmes;

  • Ability to understand and interpret a range of complex information quickly and develop solutions/make decisions;

  • Evidence of ability to plan effectively and deliver projects/service change on time;

  • Project Management competencies, including well developed planning and organisational skills, the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
