Our client an NHS Acute Trust in the South requires an Interim Assistant General Manager for Theatres for 3 months in the first instance. This role will be under the agency cap/ framework and will be at 8B.

Main responsibilities:

  • Manage the Elective cluster to include the services of Theatres, Medirooms and Pre-op Assessment.
  • Provide leadership and operational management of the theatres, medi-rooms and pre- operative assessment.
  • Lead, manage and support the development of improved service delivery, performance and efficiency.
  • Ensure the delivery of high quality, effective patient-focussed services and the achievement of efficiency targets, activity, financial and quality targets.

The post holder will also lead on the implementation of the Theatre Efficiency Programme across theatres and pre-operative assessment addressing:

  • Elective Surgery Programme
  • Performance monitoring, processes and KPIs
  • Theatre productivity
  • Scheduling Programme and weekly review 
  • Data Quality Strategy

 The successful candidate will be/have:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Significant experience manging Theatres
  • Significant experience of operational management in the NHS.  To include experience of managing both emergency and elective services and accountability for a significant budget
  • Experience of managing or taking part in programmes of continuous improvement and change management in complex environments
