Director of Acute Commissioning

The Finegreen Group is working in partnership with an NHS Clinical Commissioning Group based in London that requires an interim Director of Acute Commissioning for a minimum six month contract commencing immediately, with a day rate of £700 - £750 per day.

Reporting directly into the Chief Officer the post holder will be responsible for embedding the CCGs Sustainability and Transformation plan (STP) outcomes within acute contracts through robust contract negotiation and in year performance management for all acute contracts (approximately £1.7bn across the footprint).  

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Lead and implement a robust and high quality acute commissioning function;
  • Ensure excellent working relationships between the Acute Commissioning team and the CCG;
  • Ensure agreement and performance management of acute contracts that consistently embed key quality and performance outcomes underpinning the STP objectives;
  • Ensure that the CCGs contracting and commissioning intentions are realised within relevant acute contracts;
  • Lead the development and implementation of the acute commissioning negotiation strategy and contract performance management process;
  • Commissioning acute services that are of the highest quality, yet cost effective with a view to securing the best possible outcomes for the patients;
  • Support the CCGs clinical leaders and managers to develop robust acute commissioning plans that are deliverable and achieve the desired outcomes
  • Ensure Governing Body members are appropriately briefed about acute commissioning developments including external policy changes and decisions as they affect the acute commissioning portfolio

Key experience & skills will include;

  • Executive Director level experience; 
  • Excellent leadership skills;
  • Proven and significant leadership experience;
  • Expert knowledge of NHS contracts and the contract management process;
  • Expert knowledge and experience of managing contracting rounds and the successful negotiation of contracts;
  • Significant experience of successful performance and activity risk management and improvement;
  • Extensive change management experience at a senior management level;
  • Ability to work confidently with Chief Executives and other senior individuals across a range of NHS and non-NHS organisations including Foundation Trusts, teaching hospitals, local authorities and the voluntary and social enterprise sectors;
  • Demonstrable ability to create constructive teams.
