Head of E-rostering

The Finegreen Group is working in partnership with an NHS organisation based in the South East that requires a Head of E-rostering on a permanent basis commencing in July / August. This role is at AfC band 8b level.

Reporting into the Assistant Director of Human Resources the Head of E-rostering will take the lead for all rostering work-streams across all within the Trust and in addition lead on Workforce Intelligence related projects. The successful post-holder will hold overall responsibility for the management and use of the Trust’s E-rostering systems, and provide effective leadership for the E-rostering and Workforce intelligence teams to ensure a first class service is delivered.

Key responsibilities;

  • Work autonomously in making decisions regarding system set-up, design and related processes to ensure the delivery of best ESR and E-rostering within the Trust;
  • Examine existing processes for maintaining quality information within the systems to ensure accurate and useful workforce information is being collated;
  • Lead on the development, implementation and review of guidance, frameworks and policies in support of rostering and workforce management;
  • Lead on internal and external quality improvement activities;
  • Plan, develop and evaluate methods and processes for gathering, analysing, interpreting and presenting data and information;
  • Identify the required training needs for the organisation in relation to workforce and rostering practices and contribute to any training for senior managers and executives;
  • Lead on the introduction and maintenance of change control processes, both in relation to the software use as well as any supporting documentation;
  • Maintain ESR & workforce systems.

Key experience and skills required;

  • Masters or equivalent relevant occupational experience;
  • Programme or Project Management experience;
  • Understanding of the current national agendas impacting on rostering and the NHS workforce;
  • Understanding of the differences between Agenda for Change, New Deal, 2016 Junior Doctor contract and the Consultant terms and conditions of Service;
  • Excellent understanding of E-rostering systems, preferably Allocates Healthroster v10;
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement up to and including board level;
  • People management experience;
  • Excellent communications skills.
