Finegreen are recruiting on behalf of a leading, worldwide non-profit organisation to recruit a Clinical Operations Manager based in their Surgical Clinic in Manchester.

My client is a marketing focused, results oriented social enterprise they develop efficient, effective and sustainable family planning programmes in the UK and overseas. The UK division provides services to men and women over 130,000 times a year. Services provided include Termination of Pregnancy (TOP), STI testing, LARC provision, counselling and vasectomy. The primary responsibility of this role is to further client’s goal: the prevention of unwanted births and its mission of ensuring the individual's right to having children by choice not chance.

Please note this role involves an element of travel to surrounding Surgical Clinics and Early Medical Units in the North West.

The Clinical Operations Manager role aims to ensure the smooth running of the centre on a day to day basis by overseeing all clinical areas and management of the clinical team; co-ordination of doctors/surgeons/anaesthetists; being the main point of call for clinical matters and by being a part of the operational management structure within the Centre. To be innovative and drive forward quality in client care, maintaining excellence and compliance to policy and regulatory requirements at all times. 

To provide strategic and operational management to the theatre team ensuring that all staff deliver high quality specialist services for planned procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Although part of the role will be supernumerary, it is expected that you will provide hands-on client care in the provision of services to clients and as part of the ongoing coaching and development of clinical team members;
  • Lead on changes in clinical practice and policy and actively support the integration of best practice;
  • Ensure appropriate cover for service delivery including flexibility to meet changes in demand; Identify team needs, both permanent and sessional; organise rotas and cover for nursing and medical teams;
  • Monitor and improve standards of good practice, safety, service and client care; 
  • Monitor, develop and enforce standards of clinical care, correcting or improving performance where appropriate;
  • Ensure appropriate responses to handling medical emergencies are in place, lead on emergency situations when present and follow up all cases to conclusion;
  • Ensure Safeguarding concerns are identified and appropriate action is taken;
  • Work with the Operations Manager and Regional Clinical Manager to ensure the client experience is smooth and timely and that delays are kept to a minimum. 


The successful candidate:

  • RN Level 1 or Level 2 NMC Registration;
  • Up to date understanding of gynaecology and theatre practice (recent experience not essential);
  • Experience working within a results oriented environment 
  • District Nurse/Midwife or community based nursing desirable;
  • Proven experience within a high volume patient/client setting;
  • Experience of managing or leading a team highly desirable;
  • Excellent people management skills, including mentoring and developing team members and  the ability to deal with people management issues effectively;
  • Meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities under pressure;
  • Some time spent in a customer service environment - preferable.
