The three Acute Trusts across Mid and South Essex have embarked on an exciting journey to create a financially sustainable modern health network that delivers excellence in local and specialist services. They are creating a culture of high performance, improvement, measurement and innovation through a highly engaged workforce.

Their aspiration is to be a first class commercially astute, partnership focused organisation that supports the delivery of high quality safe and effective care for all those who need to access their services. In January this year, their Joint Working Board agreed to work towards presenting the case to their regulators and the Competition and Markets Authority to formally merge the three organisations. As they work through the process they will be looking to attract the best talent to join their teams.

Southend University Hospital was officially opened in 1932 and was authorised as a Foundation Trust in 2006. The Trust serves an estimated population of 351,614, across Southend-on-Sea, Rochford and Castle Point, employing a workforce of over 4,500 staff. Excluding the London boroughs, Southend-on-Sea is the 8th most densely populated area in the UK.

They are now seeking to appoint a Director of Finance to lead the finance function and financial performance of the Trust. Reporting into the Site Managing Director, and accountable to the Group Chief Finance Officer, the Director of Finance will be a key member of the site leadership.

They require an exceptional individual who will provide financial stewardship to the Trust while also playing a leading role within the wider system. As a suitable candidate you will be able to demonstrate a track record of delivery and achievement within a similar role. You will have operated at either Board or sub-Board level and will bring the necessary leadership skills required to take the Trust forward and help deliver the vison shared by the
