Non-Executive Directors (x2) – Medical/Clinical
Stockport NHS Foundation Trust
Commitment: Circa 4 days per month
Remuneration: £14,000pa
Stockport NHS Foundation Trust is no ordinary Trust. They hold a unique position in the Stockport community as the provider of health and care to their population, and as one of the region’s largest employers. They provide a number of specialist services, including their highly rated stroke service, they also play a key partnership role within Greater Manchester, Stockport and East Cheshire.
Like many other NHS organisations, they face challenges in terms of improving the quality and performance of services, while balancing this with finances. They have made improvements to many services over the last few years, but these changes have not always been sustained for a number of different reasons. This is reflected in their most recent inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC). As a Trust, they will not be satisfied until the care they provide to all patients, every day, is of the standard they would want for their own families.
They are not content to just deal with the challenges of the here and now. They have ambitious plans for major changes to how and where care is delivered. In responding to the unprecedented challenge of the Covid-19 pandemic their staff have demonstrated every day their commitment to providing the best possible care for patients. They have also been innovative in rapidly adopting new ways of working and changing how some of their services are delivered. They will harness the enthusiasm and commitment from the way they responded to Covid-19 to help shape the delivery of their recovery and future plans.
This fast moving environment presents the Trust with an opportunity to deliver services in new ways; working across traditional boundaries and seeking innovative solutions that will help all parts of the health and social care system become truly integrated around the needs of their communities. We also know that the role of the hospital is changing, and they recognise the part they must play in preventing ill health. More services will be provided closer to or at patients’ homes, with many provided via digital technologies.
It is to this complex backdrop that they now embark on the process to appoint two new Non-Executive Directors to the Trust Board. The Board is very dynamic, with relatively new members including Chief Ethe xecutive, Director of Finance, Director of Workforce and Organisational Development, Director of Strategy, Partnerships and Transformation and Non-Executive Directors, all of whom bring fresh experience, skills and focus to the Trust.
In relation to these appointments the Trust are seeking applicants who can bring experience in medical/ clinical leadership, with Board level experience gained in a medical, nursing, or other clinical role. They are looking for exceptional individuals who can support them in addressing a challenging and complex agenda and who can make significant contributions in their continued drive toward service improvement and integration.
The Trust have identified new values of We Care, We Respect, We Listen. These values will now underpin everything they do, and the way in which they do it. You will share these values and a determination and commitment to become an ‘Outstanding’ organisation.
If you have the skills and experience outlined above and are excited by the potential of working as part of the leadership team to realise the Trust’s ambitions, then we look forward to receiving your application and meeting with you in due course. We would particularly welcome applications from those who can improve the diversity of thought and experience on our Board.
