HR Business Partner

Job Description

A Health Board in Wales is looking for someone for a period of 3-6 months to support their senior HR & OD team.

Main responsibilities:

  • Proactively work with managers on specific projects in areas, ensuring that objectives and high standards are met;

  • Advise managers and staff on HR strategies and plans to meet business objectives;

  • Coach, mentor and challenge managers as appropriate in the application of HR policies and practices which engage employees, address issues and build capabilities effectively;

  • Ensure robust employee engagement/involvement and work in partnership with staff and Trade union colleagues;

  • Provide complex/highly specialist advice to line managers in the management of sickness absence, advising action as appropriate (including redeployment, ill health retirement and termination) and ensuring a consistent approach, so as to maximise attendance in the workplace;

  • Advise senior managers on the possible ways of approaching highly complex employee relation situations;

  • Ensure policies are followed and fairly applied, issues and problems are dealt with appropriately, effectively and in a timely manner, and that good HR practice and statute is maintained;

  • Provide timely, responsive and specialist advice to managers and employees on terms and conditions of service, the application of employment legislation, codes of practice and the interpretation of policies;

  • Monitor establishment and vacancy levels and take a proactive lead in initiating recruitment where establishment falls below a determined level.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Up to date knowledge of employment law;

  • NHS experience;

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
